Czech authorities dismantle illegal smuggling operation

Czech authorities have dismantled a smuggling network.

Czech police have dismantled a suspected smuggling network that illegally transported more than 2,000 migrants from Turkey to the Czech Republic. Prague’s anti-organized crime unit, known as NCOZ, announced that 14 people had been apprehended. These suspects are accused of facilitating illegal border crossings.

Some migrants have been smuggled from the Czech Republic to other EU countries. The criminals made a profit of more than two million euros from their illegal activities. Authorities confiscated a significant amount of cash, two vehicles and property during a series of searches. If convicted, the alleged smugglers face up to 16 years in prison.
